School Profile

Hillsdale offers a rigorous academic program. Over 70% of the school’s faculty and staff hold master
degrees in their field. In 2016, HHS became one of eight schools from across the nation achieving Gold
Recognition as a School of Opportunity by the National Education Policy Center.

The Schools of Opportunity project celebrates and identifies excellent public high schools that work to close gaps in both opportunity and achievement.

Our school's Smaller Learning Community (SLC) model can significantly restrict the schedules to which students have access. Because our school devotes many class periods to Advisory and our SLC program
deemphasizes Advanced Placement courses in favor of a rigorous core curriculum, many students are
limited to taking 1 science course per school year and a total of 6 periods.
